TEJAS PATEL RESIDENCE
Client: Mr. Tejas Patel
Location: Gujarat, India
Total Built-up Area: 3,443 sq. ft.
Situated in the vibrant landscape of Gujarat, this 3,443 sq. ft. tropical traditional residence for Mr. Tejas Patel seamlessly blends vernacular aesthetics with contemporary functionality. The design thoughtfully integrates regional materials and architectural elements to create a home that is both timeless and responsive to its environment.
The front elevation is characterized by rubble stone cladding, offering a rustic texture that grounds the structure in its natural surroundings. Complementing this is the use of jali work—perforated screens that not only add intricate visual interest but also facilitate natural ventilation and light diffusion, enhancing the home's passive cooling strategy.
A prominent sloped roof crowns the residence, a nod to traditional tropical architecture, effectively channeling rainwater and providing shade to reduce heat gain. Large windows with glass fittings are strategically placed to maximize daylight penetration, reducing reliance on artificial lighting and fostering a strong indoor-outdoor connection.
An industrial-style car porch introduces a contemporary contrast to the traditional elements, featuring robust materials and clean lines that underscore the home's modern sensibilities.
Inside, the residence offers four spacious bedrooms and five bathrooms, each designed with attention to comfort and privacy. The interior layout promotes fluid movement between spaces, while maintaining distinct zones for various activities.
This residence exemplifies a harmonious fusion of traditional design principles and modern living requirements, resulting in a home that is both aesthetically pleasing and environmentally attuned.
